This individual will provide quality comprehensive dental care to the community we serve, many of whom are unable to afford or obtain dental care. This position will be Part-time three (3) days a week, on the road. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys travel and being outside of the standard brick-and-mortar practice.

Job Description and Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes, and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
  • Complete referrals, data collections and charting records into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Complete other paperwork as shall be required from time to time by the organization.

Mobile Dental Clinic Environment

  • State of the Art brand new two (2) operatory mobile dental clinic.
  • Well equipped, stocked with supplies, panoramic x-ray machine and nicely outfitted to provide a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Will be staffed with a General Dentist, Dental Assistant and patient navigator, creating a highly productive environment for quality and compassionate care.
  • Dental Services include x-rays, cleanings, exams, extractions, fillings, partials and denture repairs and fabrications.

Required Education and Experience

  • Doctorate in Dentistry (D.D.S. or D.M.D) from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred.
  • Previous professional dentistry experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide family medicine services in NeighborHub Health’s Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) Program.
  • Participate in teaching and precepting residents in various clinical settings of the program.
  • Work as part of a Medical/Administrative Team and clinically supervise medical, nursing and ancillary providers.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement and Patient Centered Medical Home efforts by following clinical policies and procedures, utilizing standing orders, and meaningfully using the EMR, and practicing within the medical home concept of care.
  • Create and maintain effective working relationships with support staff, faculty physicians, providers, patients, board members and the general public.
  • Maintain active privileges in the HCH Program and local hospitals.

Qualifications:

  • Board certified and licensed to practice in the State of Ohio, family practice preferred.
  • A commitment to the Health Care for the Homeless service delivery model.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Improvement concepts.
  • Supportive of the concept of primary care and behavioral health integration.
  • Experience working with underserved populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relate to persons of all cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams and with a diverse array of professionals and agencies.
  • Maintains the required continuing education for professional licensure.
  • Cultural sensitivity and willingness to work with homeless persons and persons with HIV.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews patient record, including history, allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition
  • Diagnose condition of patient and defines a plan of care
  • Prescribes treatments, medications, and immunization

Qualifications:

  • One year post graduate APRN experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Ohio RN license
  • Board Certified in State of Ohio for APRN license
  • Proven experience and ability to work independently
  • Electronic medical records experience a plus, but not required
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be self-directed
  • Experience with a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred
  • Cultural sensitivity and interest in working with people experiencing homelessness as well as persons with HIV

The Patient Navigator is accountable for ensuring patient demographic and insurance data is complete and accurate, waivers are completed, and other duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:    

  • Schedules appointments for patients either by phone or in person.
    ¨ Uses manual/computerized system to match physician/clinician availability with patient’s preferences in terms of date and time.
  • Communicates as needed with physicians/clinicians and other staff about any patient concerns/issues related to scheduling.
  • Answer telephones accurately using telephone script, is helpful and friendly
  • Ensures all information on the patient case is complete, accurate, and ready for review
  • Verifies patient demographic information
  • Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly
  • Ensures accurate and timely distribution of patient requests
  • Verifies current insurance by recording insurance card and ensuring current updates in the practice management and electronic medical record systems
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned are completed in a timely, thorough and accurate basis

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to learn other computer skills.  Must have good organizational skills and work professionally with doctors, hospital administration, management, SEP employees and the public.

Our Front Office Dental Associate will be an energetic outgoing individual that will make our patients feel welcome and appreciated. They will be experienced with Dentrix software and/or technically savvy. They will be experienced at working with dental insurance carriers and PPO’s and will be able to schedule to production consistently. This person will be team oriented, a proactive/problem solver and will be detail oriented.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receive and direct all visitors, patients, customers and vendors 
  • Manage incoming phone calls for appointments or request for information 
  • Set and schedule patient appointments 
  • Manage, handle and review all paperwork 
  • Ensure front desk support to clinical staff 
  • Explain treatment plans and cost of treatment to patients 
  • Prepare billings for dental patient care 
  • Ensure front desk support to clinical staff 
  • Handle insurance and ensure follow-up 
  • Ensure high quality dental patient care 
  • Assist and support other team members and departments in dental patient care delivery.
